I am not kidding when I say that Syrian food is the best one I’ve ever had while traveling. 🇸🇾

Syrian cuisine is similar to the Lebanese one. It is a flavorful blend of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean influences, reflecting its rich history.

There is a great variety of traditional dishes that you just have to try!

Popular dishes include shawarma, falafel, and kibbeh, while mezzes like hummus and tabbouleh are common starters.

The cuisine features fresh ingredients like olive oil, herbs, and spices, often combined with bulgur, rice, and grilled meats such as lamb and chicken.

From the amazing first meal at @darmiskrestaurant, to the delicious breakfast of @antique.khan2 and the famous ice cream of Bakdash, every single thing we ate in Damascus was always fresh and delicious.

The Umayyad Mosque, also known as the Great Mosque of Damascus, is considered to be the 4th holiest place in Islam.

It was built on 715 CE on the site that formerly hosted a Roman temple dedicated to Jupiter (5th photo) and afterwards a Christian basilica dedicated to John the Baptist.

Interestingly enough, a legend dating to the sixth century holds that the building contains the head of John the Baptist (4th photo).

The mosque’s courtyard consists of marble surrounding the pavilions and arcades, which contain some of the longest preserved mosaics from the Umayyad period!

The Umayyad Mosque is also famous for one of its minarets, known as the "Minaret of Jesus,". Muslim tradition believes that this is the place where Jesus will return after the end of days.

Inside there is a large praying area (3rd photo), where locals gather together to pray. Despite its size, the praying area can be full during religious holidays.

It is surely one of the most beautiful and peaceful places I have ever been to. Despite recent struggles, it still stands as a symbol of Syria’s capital.

Tskaltubo is a town in western Georgia, famous for its Soviet-era spas. 🇬🇪

There are around 22 sanatoriums in the city, most of them abandoned. People found home into the abandoned buildings, and they live in absolute poverty.

Some of the Sanatoriums were sold to investors for insanely low prices to be turned into luxury hotels and spas. While there have been promises to help the residents relocate, they still live in uncertainty.

There are so many feelings arising when walking around the town and inside the buildings. It is surely an experience worth living.
